Railway Meat Curry

Ingredients

  • Meat (mutton or beef) 500 gms
  • Coconut oil/Vegetable oil 2 Tbsp
  • Onions 1 (finely chopped)
  • Tomatoes 3 (finely chopped )
  • Green chillies 4-5 (slit) for a spicy flavor
  • Curd 1 cup (whisked)
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 Tbsp
  • Coriander leaves 1 Tbsp (for garnish)
  • Curry leaves 10-15
  • Salt 1 tsp or according to taste
  • Chillie powder 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 Tbsp
  • Turmeric powder ยฝ tsp
  • Garam masala powder 2 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Spices Fennel seeds (saunf)-1 tsp, Cinnamon-2 pieces, cardamom-3 or 4, cloves-4 or 5, dry red chillies-3 (broken), curry leaves-few

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add the spices. Mix it well and let it fry for 30 seconds.
  2. Add the chopped onions and curry leaves and saute well until it becomes translucent
  3. Now add the chillie, turmeric, coriander, garam masala and cumin powders. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Add the ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute.
  5. Add the tomatoes and saute until the gravy becomes pulpy and soft.
  6. Now add the meat to the gravy and mix well. Add the whisked curd and mix well.
  7. Mix all the ingredients until the meat gets coated well and the curry turns a little brown.
  8. Then add about a cup of water and pressure cook for 6-7 whistles.
  9. Once the steam settles down in the pressure cooker, open the lid and mix the curry.
  10. If there is a lot of water, simmer the pan for another 10-15 minutes until the gravy reduces.
  11. Finally garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
