Pepper Water – Spicy

Ingredients

  • Tomatoes 1 medium size
  • Curry leaves 2-3 stalks
  • Coriander leaves 3-4 stalks
  • Garlic 3-4 pods
  • Jeera 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds ยฝ tsp
  • Pepper corn 1 tsp
  • Tamarind 1 small lump (about 1 Tbsp)
  • Jaggery 1 small piece (about a marble size)
  • Salt 1 tsp or lesser according to taste

Seasoning:

  • Onion 1 small (sliced)
  • Curry leaves 2 stalks
  • Mustard seeds ยฝ tsp
  • Oil 1 Tbs

Instructions

  1. Put all the ingredients, except the jaggery, into a blender and grind to a coarse mixture.
  2. Place this mixture in a pressure cooker and add 2-3 cups of water.
  3. Add the jaggery piece and put it on to boil for 2-3 whistles.
  4. For the seasoning, heat oil in a kadai and add the onions.
  5. When it begins to turn golden brown, add the other ingredients.
  6. After the mustard seeds begin to splutter, remove from fire and add to the pepper water.
  7. Heat the pepper water and serve hot.
