Coconut Barfi

Ingredients

  • Freshly grated coconut 1 cup
  • Sugar ยพ cup
  • Milk 1 cup
  • Ghee/butter 2 Tbsp
  • Cardamom powder/Vanilla essence ยฝ tsp

Instructions

  1. Heat a kadai for about one minute.
  2. Add 1 Tbsp of ghee/butter to the pan and heat it until it melts. Then put the coconut and continuously fry it till it becomes dry.
  3. Then add sugar and milk. Stir it continuously. Bring the contents to boil.
  4. Add the cardamom powder/vanilla essence for flavour.
  5. Boil the syrup till it becomes thick and starts sticking to the bottom.
  6. Then add 1 Tbsp ghee/butter and stir it for about half a minute. The mixture should be soft.
  7. Empty the mixture onto a greased plate and spread it out evenly. Let it set until firm.
  8. Then cut into squares/diamond shape pieces.

Notes

Store and use within a week if kept out of the fridge.
