Murrukus

Murrukus

Ingredients

  • Rice flour โ€“ 2 cups
  • Urad dhal โ€“ ยฝ cup
  • Butter 1ยฝ Tbsp
  • Ajwain or Thilli โ€“ 1 Tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to deep frying
  • Warm water for mixing the batter

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the urad dhal to a light colour. After it cools down, process it in a blender and sieve it.
  2. Add rice flour, urad dhal flour, salt, butter, Ajwain or thilli and enough warm water to mix the ingredients into a soft dough.
  3. Grease the muruku mould and fill the dough into the mould.
  4. In the meantime get the oil hot for frying.
  5. Using the mould drop in the murukkus and fry on a medium flame to a light golden brown on both sides.
  6. Remove the murukkus and keep it on a newspaper or kitchen towel to drain off excess oil.
