Butter cookies (eggless)

Ingredients

  • Powdered sugar โ€“ ยฝ cup
  • Butter โ€“ ยฝ cup
  • All-purpose flour โ€“ 1 cup
  • Salt โ€“ ยฝ tsp (skip if the butter is salted)
  • Vanilla โ€“ ยฝ tsp

Notes

  1. Measure and keep all the ingredients ready.ย  Butter should be soft at room temperature or melted.
  2. In a mixing bowl sieve the powdered sugar.
  3. Add butter, using a hand whisk or electric beater, blend for 2 minutes till smooth.
  4. Pour in the vanilla essence.
  5. Whisk in the flour and salt. This batter looks crumbly at this stage.
  6. Knead it lightly, bring it together and wrap it in a cling film and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven in the meantime for10 minutes @180ยฐC.
  8. Line a tray with butter paper and dust with some flour.
  9. Remove the dough from the fridge and roll into ยฝโ€ and cut out desired shapes.
  10. Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes @ 180ยฐC. Adjust the timing according to the browning of the cookies.
  11. The cookies will be soft to the touch after baking it, but on cooling will crisp up.
  12. Decorate once the cookies have cooled down.
