Tamarind Rice 1
Ingredients
- Tamarind 1 handfull
- Groundnut/Gram dhal 1 Tbs
- Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
- Curry leaves 2 stalks
- Green chillies 4-5
- Mustard seeds ยฝ tsp
- Turmeric ยฝ tsp
- Chill i powder ยฝ tsp
- Oil 2 Tbs
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Soak the tamarind in water for ยฝ and hour.
- Squeeze out the pulp and keep aside. ย
- Heat the oil in a kadai. ย
- Add the groundnut (pallies) or gram dhal and fry till light brown. ย
- Add the curry leaves and then the green chillies
- Add ginger-garlic paste and let it fry for 1 minute. ย
- Then add the turmeric and chilli powder. ย
- Keep the flame low so that the seasoning does not burn.ย
- Then add the tamarind pulp and salt. ย
- Let it cook and gradually thicken. ย
- Remove from heat and keep aside to cool. ย
- Add this pulp little by little to the rice and mix well till wellย
Notes
Note the amount of salt added to the cooked rice and then add accordingly to the tamarind pulp
