Veg Manchurian

Ingredients

For vegetable stuffing

  • Maida+cornflour 1 cup
  • Garlic 3-4 (finely chopped)
  • Ginger 1 inch piece (finely chopped)
  • Cabbage 1 cup (grated)
  • Carrots 2 (grated)
  • Capsicum 1 (finely chopped)
  • Soda bicarb A pinch
  • Salt ยฝ tsp
  • Ajinomoto ยฝ tsp
  • Soya sauce 2 tsp

For the gravy

  • Garlic 6-7 (finely chopped)
  • Green chillies 3-4 (finely chopped)
  • Soya sauce 1 Tbsp
  • Ajinomoto 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Cornflour 1 Tbsp
  • Oil 2 Tbsp

Instructions

  1. Make a stiff dough out of the above ingredients (mentioned for vegetable stuffing), make balls and fry in oil until golden brown.
  2. The dough will bind everything together because of the cornflour
  3. Heat oil in a kadai/wok. Fry ginger, garlic, green chillies for 1 minute
  4. Add 1ยฝ cups of water, Ajinomoto, soya sauce and salt
  5. Cook the gravy for 3 minutes.
  6. Add cornflour to a quarter cup of water. Mix thoroughly. Add this to the gravy and stir continuously (cornflour thickens the gravy quickly).
  7. Once the gravy thickens, add the fried vegetable manchurians.
  8. Garnish with spring onion leaves. Serve immediately.
