Pav Bhaji Sandwich
Ingredients
- Pavs 10
- Potatoes 2 (small) or 1 (medium)
- Cauliflower 1 (small)
- Butter 2 Tbsp
- Pav bhaji masala powder 2 tsp
- Tomato ketchup 1 Tbsp
- Salt ยฝ tsp (add a little more if the butter is unsalted)
- Butter for frying the pavs 5 Tbsp
- Tomato ketchup 5 Tbsp
Instructions
- Boil the potatoes in a pressure cooker for 2 whistles with one cup of water
- In the meantime, soak the cauliflower in warm water to which a teaspoon of salt is added. Let it soak for 5 minutes. Then remove the cauliflower and wash it in normal water. Keep it aside.
- Leave off the steam from the pressure cooker and add the cauliflower. Boil the cauliflower in the pressure cooker with the potatoes for 1 whistle. Switch of the gas.
- Let it remain in the pressure cooker until the steam settles down.
- Then drain out the water from the pressure cooker. Skin the potatoes and squeeze out the excess water from the cauliflower.
- Grate the potatoes and cauliflower. Keep this aside.
- Heat 2 Tbsp of butter in a kadai. To this add the grated potatoes and cauliflower.
- Mix it well. Then add the pav bhaji masala power and tomato ketchup. Mix it well.
- Let the mixture saute on a high flame until it comes together.
- Slit the pavs and smear tomato ketchup (about 1 tsp) on each pav. Now add a Tablespoon full of potato-cauliflower mixture inside the slit part of the pavs and make it like a sandwich by covering it with the other half of pav. Do this for all the pavs.
- Heat a pan on medium flame and add 2 Tbsps of butter. Place two pav sandwiches in the butter and place a lid on it in such a way that the pavs get flattened. Fry it on each side until light brown. It will take just 10-15 seconds on each side. Do not keep it to fry for a long time. It will get burned. Do the same for all the pavs.
Notes
Serve and eat while hot.
