Lime Rice
Ingredients
- Urad dhal (white dhal) 1 Tbs
- Curry leaves 2 stalks
- Dry chillies 3 (halved)
- Mustard seeds ยฝ tsp
- Turmeric powder ยผ tsp
- Oil 1 Tbs
- Limes 1 for 1 measure of rice
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Squeeze the lime juice in the cooled rice and mix, keep aside.
- Heat the oil in a kadai and add the urad dhal. ย
- Let it fry to golden brown and then add the mustard seeds.ย Let it splutter. ย
- Add the curry leaves and dry chillies. ย
- Add turmeric and salt. ย
- Fry all these on a low flame for 1 minute. ย
- Add this seasoning to the rice that has already been mixed with lime juice.ย Mix the rice well.
Notes
The above seasoning can also be used for CURD RICE.ย The curd should be added to the seasoning at the end and then mixed into the rice.ย A pinch of asafetida can be added to the seasoning for a better flavour.
