Pepper Water with Tomatoes
Ingredients
- Tomatoes 3-4
- Tamarind 1 small lump
- Coriander 4-5 stalks
- Curry leaves 3-4 stalks
- Ginger garlic paste ยฝ tsp
- Chillie powder ยฝ tsp
- Turmeric powder ยฝ tsp
- Salt 1 tsp
For the seasoning
- Garlic 4-5 cloves
- Curry leaves 1 sprig
- Mustard seeds ยฝ tsp
- Cumin seeds ยฝ tsp
- Oil 1 Tbsp
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to the tomatoes (that are squashed) in a cooker.
- Add 2-3 cups of water and let it cook for 3-4 whistles.
- Switch off the gas, open the lid after 5 minutes and let it cool, then mix well with a masher or by hand.
- For the seasoning, add oil in a small kadai and put in the garlic pods once the oil becomes hot. When the garlic turns light brown, add the other ingredients for seasoning. Let it fry for a minute and switch off the gas. Add this seasoning to the pepper water.
- Finally, put the pepper water to boil for 4-5 minutes.
- Serve when hot.
Notes
Pepper water is a good accompaniment for dry vegetable fries, fish fry, pan chops, liver fry and other dry fries.
